JOB OVERVIEW
Center for Simulation Innovation and Advanced Manufacturing (SIAM) at the British University in Egypt (BUE) develops new platforms for simulation, innovation and manufacturing to solve Egypt urgent problems in energy, water, healthcare, manufacturing, etc. In order to achieve this goal, SIAM develops digital solutions and rapid manufacturing technologies to enable innovations of today and tomorrow.
PROJECT FOCUS:
Project(s) focus on numerical and experimental studies of defects in new energy materials during processing. Projects are done in collaboration with international and national leading institutes, therefore, experience in dealing with international foreign staff and working within a multicultural environment is needed.
Gross Salary: 5000 EGP
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Conduct literature reviews or field research.
• Collect and analyze data
• Prepare materials for submission to granting agencies and foundations
• Provide ready access to all experimental data for the faculty researcher and/or supervisor
• Request or acquire equipment or supplies necessary for the project
• Manage and respond to projects related email
• Prepare, maintain, and update website materials
• Supervise undergraduate students working on the research project (maintaining records on assignment completion, acting as liaison/mediator between the undergraduate students and the faculty researcher)
• Attend/organize project meetings
• Attend/organize seminars and other meetings
• Summarize project results
• Prepare progress reports for the PI and funding agency
• Prepare other articles, reports, and presentations
• Monitor the project budget
• Collect and analyze data and to manage and update existing databases.
Research Assistant at SIAM may assign other duties and responsibilities. Concerns about any additional duties should be discussed first with SIAM Director.
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS:
Education:
• BSc or MSc in Mechanical, Aerospace, Computer, Metallurgical Engineering or a relevant field.
• Currently enrolled in graduate study (MSc or PhD) in an accredited university.
• 0-3 years of experience.
Language Skills:
• Excellent English in both writing & speaking skills.
Computer and IT Skills:
• Programming in one or more of the following languages (C++, Java, Python, Fortran, …)
• Familiar with Object Oriented Programming and Computer Algorithms.
• Familiar with Finite Element Method and/or similar numerical methods.
• Advanced levels in Microsoft Office.
• Advanced levels using Internet Tools and research methods.
Other Skills Required:
• Nice Person!
• Good communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Excellent working and research ethics.
