When we raise our hands during prayer, the different positions can be compared to variations in the anatomy of the carotid arteries. The Common Carotid Artery (CCA) is the main vessel, while the Internal Carotid Artery (ICA) is non-branching and located laterally in the frontal view, and the External Carotid Artery (ECA) is branching and located medially. Just as people have different ways of raising their hands—higher, lower, straight, or angled—the carotid arteries also vary in their bifurcation heights and shapes. This analogy can help in distinguishing the internal and external carotid arteries during Doppler.
