🇬🇧 What an inspiring 25th edition of the Sahel & Sahara Interest Group Annual Meeting in Cairo!
For the first time ever, the SSIG conference was hosted in Egypt, bringing together nearly 70 participants from 15 countries for three days of exchanges dedicated to the conservation of the Sahel and Sahara.
Organised in partnership with RAED-Arab Network for Environment & Development, this special anniversary edition celebrated 25 years of collaboration while highlighting the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists on the road to United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification COP17.
We also proudly celebrated the second edition of the Wadis and Dunes Excellence Awards, recognising outstanding contributions to conservation across the Sahel and Sahara.

🇫🇷 Quelle édition inspirante pour la 25e réunion annuelle du Sahel & Sahara Interest Group au Caire !
Pour la première fois de son histoire, la conférence du SSIG s’est tenue en Égypte, réunissant près de 70 participants issus de 15 pays autour des enjeux de conservation du Sahel et du Sahara.
Organisée en partenariat avec RAED-Arab Network for Environment & Development, cette édition anniversaire a célébré 25 ans de collaboration tout en mettant à l’honneur l’Année internationale des parcours et des éleveurs pastoraux, dans la perspective de la COP17 de la United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification.
Nous avons également eu le plaisir de célébrer la deuxième édition des Prix d’excellence Oueds & Dunes, récompensant des contributions remarquables à la conservation sahélo-saharienne.
