In the Temple of Sekhmet, the message came clearly: “You carry a broken heart.”
During breathwork, I journeyed through death and rebirth.
Guided by Anubis through the gates of Osiris, I witnessed the weighing of my heart, traveled between worlds, and merged with an ancestral African guide as Mother Africa tended to old soul wounds and rekindled the fire within.
What followed was surrender.
A supernova erupted in my heart. The old self burned away. I became the abandoned child, alone on the plains… until the elephants came.
They did not rescue me. They initiated me.
I was carried by the herd, brought to the waters, drowned, purified, reborn as seed, wisdom, and finally shown a crystalline pyramid with one message:
“You are home.”
Sometimes healing is not being saved.
Sometimes healing is remembering who carries you home.
✨ Have you ever experienced a moment where everything ended… only to discover it was actually a beginning?

We don’t need more answers at the end of life… we need more presence.
Honoured to be a speaker at the MSIFN Palliative Care Symposium this week.
I shared about the role of a death doula—
and explored care not as intervention…
but as presence.
The difference between fixing
and simply staying.
How, at the end of life,
people don’t need us to have the right words—
they need to feel they are not alone.
I leave reminded that death has always belonged to community.
Grateful for the openness, the listening, and the shared humanity.
If this resonates, take a moment today to simply be with someone—no fixing, just presence.

September 30, 2024. Reconciliation starts with acknowledgment, empathy, and action. In my practice, I aim to create a space for healing and reflection. What can you do today to help contribute to a world built on understanding, compassion, and unity?

Mar 8, 2024 - It takes a village to raise a strong, sensitive man. Today, I pay tribute to and express gratitude for the women who played a crucial role in shaping my identity. Without their guidance and support, I wouldn't be the person I am today.
Marie, who I affectionately named Manie (1891-1979), was my soul mother. Her capacity for wholehearted love left a lasting impression on me. My aunt embraced vulnerability and taught me the power of love through patient, affectionate touch. Spending countless hours together, we shared a profound connection that eventually inspired my journey into massage therapy. She instilled in me the importance of presence in every moment and showed me the beauty of unconditional love and patience.
Mathilda, or Billy as she preferred to be called (1901-1996), always recognized wisdom beyond my years. With her resourcefulness, she could fashion creations out of rags and captivate through storytelling. Our philosophical discussions around religion and spirituality expanded my horizons, teaching me the value of silence and contemplation. Grandma encouraged me to challenge norms and embrace diverse perspectives, fostering a spirit of curiosity and exploration.
Dorothy (1918-2017) taught me the essence of acceptance, both in childhood and adulthood. Her warm embrace extended not only to me but also to my husband, exemplifying the true meaning of family. As the first woman in my family to attain a university degree, grand maman shared her life's story with me, revealing her vulnerabilities and strengths. Through her courage, I discovered the spontaneity of her inner child and learned invaluable lessons in empathy and servitude.
I honour the divine feminine within Louise, my mother (1945 - ). I also recognize that no single mother can fulfill every child's need, I honour her for the lessons she imparted. Her diligence and determination instilled in me a sense of wonder for the world and the courage to take risks for personal growth. Her work ethic and pursuit of lifelong learning, including embarking on a PHD at 79, serves as a testament to her resilience and serves as an ongoing source of inspiration.
