Drinking Ethiopian coffee is an experience ;)
The proverb "Buna dabo naw" ("Coffee is our bread!") illustrates how the coffee ceremony has long been an integral part of social and cultural life for Ethiopians. The ground Arabica coffee (bunna) is slowly boiled in the black clay coffee pot or 'jebena' while special incense is burned. The strong coffee is taken with plenty of sugar but no milk, and is traditionally accompanied by popcorn, peanuts or cooked barley snacks. The coffee is served in three rounds that is said to transform the spirit through the completion of 'Abol' (the first round), 'Tona' (second round) and 'Baraka'or 'to be blessed' (third round)
