Another incredible open day and an amazing amount of money raised!

We were blessed this Saturday with beautiful winter sunshine at the Sanctuary, perfect for such an important event. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces, including our old Harp & Crown regulars, as well as plenty of new ones too. Thank you to everyone who came along. We truly appreciate all the support and generosity shown throughout the day.

We sold over 150 pizzas and had an absolute blast in the trailer, firing them out, something we’ll never get tired of! It feels especially meaningful knowing exactly where the money is going, and it means the world to us that you all came down to support the Sanctuary.

Genna, Matt, and Coppershell are incredibly dear to us, and we have so much appreciation for the tireless work they do for the animals and the wider rescue community. We will always be there to support them whenever they need it.

At the last open day, we collectively raised over £3,500, so we set our sights even higher this time. Thanks to everyone’s generosity, the day was a huge success, raising an incredible £5,200! a truly remarkable total!

Whether you donated by buying pizza, merchandise, freshly baked goods, taking part in the tombola, getting a tattoo, or donating online, we are deeply grateful. Every contribution, big or small, helped make this event such a special day.

Thank you for supporting the Sanctuary. we can’t wait to see you at the next one.

November DUMP

It’s about time I started doing these dump things! November has been busy and quiet for obvious reasons, but whatever the season or weather, we’re always having fun!

1. Our starter from one of our pop-ups Projects Frome - Roasted Prince Crown Squash, spiced buerre noisette, roasted walnut, served on vegan straccia

8. For Christmas last year, Simone surprised me with an ‘owl encounter’ experience at The Bird of Prey Project I’m a ‘fully fledged’ bird-nerd lol. They’re a dedicated conservation and rescue charity working to protect wild spaces, restore natural habitats, and give our feathery friends the best chance at a healthy future. Every bird in their care is treated with respect, patience, and a deep understanding of their natural behaviours.

They also run a rehabilitation hospital for injured wild raptors — everything from owls to kestrels to buzzards — with the goal of releasing them back into the wild where they belong. On top of that, they rescue birds of prey that have been bred in captivity or privately owned and kept in terrible conditions. Shockingly, there are no regulations around keeping birds of prey in captivity in the UK, which means so many of these extraordinary animals end up suffering at the hands of people who simply don’t know how to care for them.

For anyone who cares about wildlife, conservation, or ethical animal welfare, they are absolutely a charity worth supporting. They’re doing important work, and they deserve every bit of recognition and help they can get.
