Human-made is our new rebellion.

I know you're probably tired of hearing about our book launch, but I wanted to share something we learned.

The Synthesizing Futures book was a 4-year journey, we've been manually crafting, writing, and designing (being a designer... and a perfectionist), we obsess over every format and every sentence. I can tell you it was born from pure human trial and error.

Not really looking to compare, but coincidentally, for a separate project, we had to make a "future artifact", a book from the year 2040 about the future of kinship. We previously did the research, but used GenAl to "speed-run" it. From research and "writing" to printing and shipping, it took exactly 4 days and cost 8 Euros. (I was blown away myself that it took so little time)

It was... okay, good enough to be an artifact. But you know that it didn't come from the heart.

What did we learn in this 4 years vs 4 days output? Speed (in this case) is not a substitute for substance.

When technology makes "content" infinite, human-made craft becomes a luxury. Our main book isn't just a product; it's a timestamp of four years of our lives. It has a pulse that a 4-day Al experiment just can't replicate (maybe in the future, but for now, it is still a long shot).
