Advancing MTN Uganda’s ESG Commitments Through Clean Energy

MTN Uganda is accelerating its sustainability journey through Project Zero, the MTN Group’s ambitious initiative to achieve net‑zero carbon emissions by 2040. In line with this vision, has implemented a large-scale on‑grid solar power system at its headquarters — a major step toward reducing carbon emissions, minimizing generator dependency, and building a resilient, future‑ready energy infrastructure. IPT PowerTech is proud to have designed and delivered this high‑performance solar solution, engineered to meet the full operational demand of MTN Uganda’s headquarters campus.

Project Highlights:
● 600 kW on‑grid solar installation
● 970+ solar panels deployed
● 4 × 125 kW inverters for optimized power conversion
● Advanced solar distribution panel with full system protection
● Integrated digital monitoring for real‑time tracking of grid and generator performance
● Power coverage across 22,000+ sqm of offices, air conditioning, and indoor & outdoor lighting

Unveiled during MTN Uganda’s inaugural Sustainability Week, this investment reinforces the company’s commitment to aligning operational efficiency with environmental responsibility. MTN Uganda has already achieved a 43% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to its 2021 baseline, with more than 90% of its network sites now powered by clean energy. This project demonstrates IPT PowerTech’s expertise in delivering scalable, reliable, and energy‑efficient solutions for complex enterprise and telecom environments — enabling partners to move beyond profit, meet ESG commitments, and create measurable environmental impact.
