There are two fires. 🔥

The one outside… wars, atrocities, the slow normalization of our erasure.

And the one inside, القهر. That untranslatable burning that lives in the body of everyone watching their country disappear while life around them continues as normal.

They want that fire to consume us. To leave us depressed, paralysed, silent.

But the fire is also the fuel.

Choosing to create beauty when everything is burning 🔥 inside and around you is not naive. It is the most powerful and dangerous act of resistance there is.

We are burning birds. And we fly. 🕊️

A symbol of force that cannot be contained …
of the collective anxiety that moves through every conversation now, wherever in the world that conversation takes place.
Fire keeps appearing in my work. I didn’t plan it. It burns the way it burns through everything right now, our news feeds, our calls home, the landscapes we grew up loving.
But I come from a people who knew fire as transformation, not just destruction.
