How does your dog feel about car rides? Surprise, not all dogs love going in the car! Rainy is one of them. Not shocking since her first experience involved a 48-hr ride in a van with 10 other frightened animals. When trying to undo any negative associations, patience is key. Reintroduce your pup to the car slowly and combine it with her favorite treat. We spent the last two weeks just sitting in the car, then starting the engine briefly, then eventually backing out of the driveway and returning. All while eating cheese! We’ve since made it around the block a few times without whining. Hopefully we’ll be on the road soon to many fun destinations. Patience!
