THE NEVER ENDING DREAM.

Once upon a time, in the vibrant setting of Fuengirola Port, Gill and Steve Lewis embarked on a remarkable journey. It all began on November 5th, 2014, when they opened The Mariners, a bustling hub for entertainment and camaraderie. Their venture gained momentum with appearances on TV shows like ch4's "New Life in the Sun" and ch5's "Bargain Loving Brits in the Sun."

From cabaret shows to live music and Fuengirola's only Sunday Carvery, The Mariners became a beloved spot. Despite challenges, including their pool and darts teams facing tough competition, the community thrived.

In 2017, the formation of Los Motos Locos scooter club by Andy Welland and Mike Couch added another layer of excitement, cementing The Mariners as its home. However, after three whirlwind years, Gill and Steve decided to sell The Mariners for a change of pace.

They downsized and rebranded, opening The Mariners Pub with a focus on football, food, and fun. But fate had more twists in store. Just a year later, they received an offer they couldn't refuse and sold the pub, paving the way for their next venture.

Enter The Red Lion, a quaint local pub born in January 2020. However, their newfound success was short-lived as the COVID-19 pandemic hit, leading to months of lockdown and uncertainty. Despite the challenges, they persevered, seizing an opportunity to purchase a local establishment back on Fuengirola Port.

Thus, Desperate Dan's Pie shop was born, showcasing Gill's homemade pies in a charming setting. Their resilience paid off as the business flourished, with Gill's pies becoming a sensation along the coast.

As the years passed, The Red Lion continued to thrive, but in January 2024, Steve reached a significant milestone: 50 years behind bars without being a convict. With this achievement, he made the bittersweet decision to retire, marking the end of an era.

With contracts signed in April 2024, Desperate Dan's will close its doors, leaving behind a legacy etched in the history books. Gill and Steve express their gratitude to the staff and customers who made their journey unforgettable, turning staff and strangers into lifelong friends.
Gill took on the roll of manageress at the Sunset Boulevard before moving to The Irish Rover however Steve's retirement only lasted 4 months before he got itchy feet and bought Dixies Bar Fuengirola a hidden Gem with a mixture of locals and tourists and soon attracted every nationality across the globe ots the place Where you walk in as a stranger and leave as a friend. It's a never ending Dream.
