For years, water was viewed primarily as a utility service or an environmental concern. Today, it is increasingly recognized as strategic infrastructure; essential to industrial growth, economic development and long-term resilience.

In the latest issue of Smart Water Magazine, we reflect on how both the water sector and Almar Water Solutions have evolved over the past decade. As water scarcity, climate variability and growing demand reshape markets worldwide, the focus is shifting from individual projects to integrated infrastructure systems designed for long-term performance.

The future of water will not be defined by technology alone. It will depend on the ability to combine engineering, financing, operations and asset management into solutions that deliver reliable water security for industries, cities and communities.

This evolution is reflected in projects such as Centinela in Chile and the Zuluf Water Treatment Plant in Saudi Arabia, where long-term partnership models are as important as the infrastructure itself.

As the sector enters its next chapter, success will increasingly be measured by ex*****on, resilience and the ability to create lasting value through long-term partnerships.

Oceans are at the heart of the global water cycle and a growing source of freshwater.

Covering more than 70% of the Earth’s surface, oceans regulate climate, sustain biodiversity and produce over half of the world’s oxygen.

Today, oceans are also an essential water resource, supporting cities and industries through desalination, seawater transport systems, and coastal water intake infrastructure.

From supplying drinking water to enabling industrial operations, these solutions are becoming critical to ensuring water security.

At the same time, protecting marine ecosystems is essential. Pollution, climate change and unsustainable practices continue to put increasing pressure on our oceans.

This is why water management and ocean protection must go hand in hand — developing infrastructure that is not only efficient and reliable, but also environmentally responsible.

At Almar, we are committed to delivering solutions that secure water supply while preserving the ecosystems that make it possible.

This World Oceans Day, water solutions are ocean solutions.
