The European Parliament rejects the Copyright Directive As highlighted in our previous post of 29 June, after the tight vote (15/10) in the Committee on Legal Affairs, the next step for the entry into force of the new Copyright Directive was the vote in the European Parliament last 5th July.

The new Copyright Directive and its controversial articles Last 20th June 2018, a Committee of the European Parliament approved the Proposal of European Directive on copyright in the Digital Single Market. The new legislation has, however, two controversial articles, in particular, number 11 and 13.

Animals can’t claim copyrights for selfies Last 23 April, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the monkey that took a selfie using a photographer's camera cannot sue for copyright. The appeals court said U.S. copyright law confers the right to sue on humans.
