In preparation for Spotlight 2.0 by Rangi Fernando, in partnership with Fems Sri Lanka, a special movement therapy session was held for 55 women to explore the often unspoken struggles of womanhood—its taboos, challenges, resilience, and softness.
Dance Movement Therapy provides a space for participants to express emotions that are difficult to put into words. After two hours of movement, these were some of the words that emerged.
We invite you to witness our performance as these 55 women take the stage as ambassadors for all women in Sri Lanka—coming together to move, express, heal, and empower.

Five years ago, sitting in office, I questioned whether this was truly the life I wanted. I think it’s a typical point most of us reach after about 5 years of following the typical path to life.
At the time, I resisted the urge and pressure to pursue an MBA, and instead, I was good at my job, life was still ok, it was comfortable but I still wondered if there was a different way to live.
I dreamt of passion and purpose.
I dreamt of alignment.
I dreamt of dance and movement.
So instead of only dreaming, I decided to take action!
I made tough decisions, and stepped away from the formula for “success” to create my own path.
I chose myself and my dreams—selfishly.
I had the privilege to do so.
I was also blessed with an amazing support system.
As strange as it may sound now, reaching this point was once an unattainable dream.
From ACCOUNTANT to DANCE MOVEMENT THERAPIST
Most of you know that it’s more than just a master’s degree to me; it’s a journey that challenged me inside and out.
While the mountain ahead still looms, I’m taking a moment to pause and accept — I FREAKING DID IT!
