Welcome to Women’s History Month 👩🏼‍🏫

This month is always important for me to show up and post even if I’m swamped with work because it means a lot to me. The posts are always a bit personal and they take a bit longer to write as a result.

The theme for 2023 Women’s History Month is “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories”. In the 2023 Women’s History Month logo, several notable women are featured, including novelists Toni Morrison, Maxine Hong Kingston, and Gertrude Stein, journalists and activists Jovita Idar and Marjory Stoneman Douglas, poet Maya Angelou, historian and author Gerda Lerner, and longtime National Park Service ranger Betty Soskin. ✍🏻

Growing up, I remember my Mom, who was an educator, encouraging me to read about strong female figures in history. I read about Florence Nightingale, Dolly Madison, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Suzan B. Anthony.

These stories were instrumental in shaping how I viewed women and what they could accomplish. I SAW them achieving through often adverse circumstances. I was also very lucky to have my own strong role models in my Mom, and other close female relatives.

As an adult I continue to be so very grateful for the strong women in my life. The storytellers, coaches, friends and family. As we kick off this month dedicated to Women’s History, I celebrate all of you. Thank you for being part of my journey.
