It was last year at this time that the Ethiopian Meskel festivity was registered under UNESCO for being the largest religious and cultural celebration of the foundation of the true cross. Every year, two weeks after the Ethiopian New Year, Meskel is celebrated with numerous ceremonies, which many tourists enjoy to see and be a part of.
