From the highlands, where the air is thin and clear,
A whisper rides the wind for all to hear

It speaks of salt and coral,of a distant, rhythmic tide,
a memory the geological rift cannot hide.

The mountains once mourned
As the great split was born
the earth was torn.

This colossal scar,this deep and ancient cleft,
A precious jewel,the Blue Nile, left.

But to the east, it stole our azure embrace
Leaving a landlocked,proud, and sun-kissed space

Yet in our rock,the fossil of the sea remains
A testament to past,in our highland veins

We remember 'የቴዎድሮስ ሕልም' – the dream
Of a sovereign port,a patriotic gleam.

We rememberአድዋ (Adwa)’s shout, that defiant sound
Echoing where waves on distant shores are found

የምድር ልብ – the heart of the land,
Beats with a rhythm of sun-baked sand.

It beats for ዘይላ, for Assab’s shore,
For the crashing waves,forevermore.

Oh, great valley, deep and vast,
Your story is written in the present and past.

You may divide the land,a monumental tear
But you can not divide this hope we hold so dear!

For the call of the sea is in our very soul
A timeless,deep, and unrelenting goal

From the Danakil’s heat to Tana’s tranquil face
We yearn to reclaim our aquatic grace.

So the mountains stand as sentinels, watching the sky,
With a patient hope that will never die

For thegeological rift that bisects our home,
Will one day guide the sea,no longer to roam.
