Training Division of Alert
The training center is part of ALERT center, which is established 80 years back & comprises of three big divisions which includes the hospital, training division and Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI. The hospital provides service to large number of clients in diverse areas of specialty including

• Leprosy & dermatology
• Adult and pediatric ART
• TB, MDR-TB
• Maternal health services including PMTCT
• Plastic surgery
• Ophthalmology and others

The research institute runs and publishes a number of researches in different infectious diseases including
• Leprosy
• TB
• HIV
• Malaria
• Meningitis
• leishmaniasis & others

The center has been given a recognition award by Ethiopian Public Health Association for its great contribution in the area of researches on different infectious diseases, facilitating trainings on different tropical diseases especially leprosy and providing clinical care.

It has adequate infrastructure which includes different sized class rooms, LCD and wireless internet access. It also has hostel within the compound with capacity of 28 bed rooms, each room having television and wireless internet access.

The training division is staffed by project manager, training coordinator, internist training specialist, gynecologist training specialist, pediatrician training specialist, IT officer, administrative assistant and other supportive staffs. The project manager has years of experience in managing large projects such as ARCAN, CDC, HEAL-TB, GLRA and others which has annual budget as large as 1 million US dollars per year.

The training coordinator has been organizing training events and facilitating trainings for many years. The different training specialists are well versed to course directing and coaching trainings in their area of expertise which includes but not limited to adult and pediatric HIV, PMTCT, TB, MDR-TB, Clinical Training Skills and programme management. The team is also well experienced in developing and revising training materials.
Recently the division has been working on different Programs including starting post graduate diploma in infectious diseases and working with different partners (Private & NGO’s) on various projects.

As part of standardization and institutionalization of in service trainings, the training division has been selected as being a bench mark to the 35 training facilities to be established throughout the country. Currently the division is taking a leading role in the accreditation process of courses as part of continuous professional development and institutionalization of trainings.
