Women Count for Peace WPS Agenda 1325

As part of the Women Count for Peace Project, we are implementing the initiative “The Road Ahead: Women Empowering and Emerging Technologies for Meaningful Representation and Participation of Women in Leadership and Peacebuilding Processes through Localized, AI-Assisted, Accessible Digital WPS & NAP Materials in Tigray, Ethiopia.”

Yesterday, we conducted a mentorship and capacity-building session on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) and the National Action Plan (NAP) for 15 participants representing women-focused CSOs, internally displaced persons (IDPs), Mekelle University, WROs, persons with disabilities (PWDs) working on women’s issues, and CBOs in Mekelle at Desta Hotel.

The session focused on an introduction to Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), detailed discussions of WPS and the National Action Plan (NAP), and the importance of women’s participation in peacebuilding, leadership, and good governance.

Participants engaged in pre- and post-assessments and interactive discussions exploring ways to strengthen women’s meaningful participation in decision-making and promote inclusive peacebuilding.

The Women Count for Peace Project is funded by UK Aid through the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, granted by Empathy for Life Integrated Development Association (ELiDA), and implemented in collaboration with Sustainable Technology Solutions(STS), Alliance of Civil Society Organizations of Tigray (ACSOT), and Araya Women and Children Charitable Organization - AWCCO in Tigray, Ethiopia.
