We at Both believe in a world that isn’t just black or white, nor either or. We believe in a world that is Both.
So we’ve created our accommodation and services with the same logic. At Both, you can enjoy both private rooms with en suite bathrooms as well as modern shared spaces and community events. We provide services for families, friends, business travelers as well as event-goers, and more.
Both near and far
Both is located at the best place in town: only a 10-minute walk from the Central Railway Station. We’re surrounded by convenient public transportation options, ranging from trams to buses to the metro, plus super popular city bikes. Prefer peace and quiet over the bustle of a downtown hotel room? Don’t worry! We’re conveniently located on a peaceful street, surrounded by a large yard and apartment buildings. Easy, convenient, private - we’re all about that.
Both is owned by the Student Union of the University of Helsinki. While our brand new concept was conceived in 2019, we have operated a the biggest summer accommodation in Finland for 50 years under the name Hostel Domus Academica. Under our previous name and operations we have already been named the Hostel of the Year in 2016.
Both private and shared
We know busy travelers need someplace to just rest and recharge. Our rooms come in a handful of sizes for different travelers, but all of them (yes, every single one!) has an en suite bathroom with a shower, as well as a kitchenette. So you can enjoy your down time in your own terms. Free Wi-Fi is accessible in every room, too.
We also know you might want to mingle with strangers or spend some time with friends before retiring into your rooms, and for this, we have a spacious modern lounge at your disposal. We’ve prepared stuff to do, too: join us for our Both Community events and make new friends and great memories.
Both at your service
Our rooms aren’t the only thing we’re proud of. We have a load of other services, such as breakfast, which you can book in advance for 8,50€ (9,50€ at the restaurant). We offer safety boxes, sauna, parking, a laundry room, baby cots... You name it. If we haven’t mentioned it, ask our fantastic staff, and they’ll give you a hand.
Our central location means you can easily travel both around Helsinki as well as the entire country. We’re located right in Kamppi, close to the Hietaniemi beach. From long-distance buses to little trips to local sightseeing spots and nature excursions, you’ll be able to experience it all with ease.
Both eco and diverse
We take responsibility, sustainability, and tolerance seriously as well. We pay an annual fee to offset our carbon emissions, including those from your time with us. We’re recommended by the Finnish Nature League, and have a HI-Quality & Sustainability certificate. Not to toot our own horn or anything, but we also recycle and reuse, and use eco-certified products around the premises.
Multiculturalism makes us happy, and we are honored to have served customers from over a hundred different countries in the summer of 2018. We also welcome anyone at Both as they are: Both is part of the We Speak Gay community.
