”Eeva Sivula approaches the world of Jane Austen boldly. She trusts in an ideal shape of ladies’ ball room shoe on the front and a fan on the back cover. These clear graphic forms, the shoe viewed vertically, ’en pointe’ and the fan wide open stand for
the attitude and girl power of Elizabeth Bennet, the irresistible and clever main character of the novel. 

The colour combination of the cover is simultaneously powerful and sugary. The straightforward invitation to dance suggests the multiphased love stories of the beloved novel. ”

Today we celebrate not only womanhood but cooperation of women. This book Sebaldiana. Memento mori represents one of these great cooperations. Graphic Designer Ilona Ilottu from Dog Design and artist Elina Brotherus have worked together few years and this is their second book.

We just got know that the book was awarded with an honorary appreciation in the competition for Best Book Design from all over the World. This appreciation is given by the Stiftung Buchkunst based in Germany. Stiftung opens up their purpose like this: The competitions of Stiftung Buchkunst and the books honored in them are intended to draw the attention of the industry and the public beyond the content to top achievements in book design and book production, and thus to pay more attention to the medium and its form. After all, it is not only the second best that can learn from the most beautiful - but the entire industry. If manufacturing and design quality, in addition to its functionality, is also understood as a marketing argument, the beautiful book can secure its place in media and society.

V I E L Ä E H T I I 🔜 Taikahuone/Det Magiska Rummet/MagicRoom/ -näyttelyyn, joka yhdistää kiehtovalla tavalla Yrjö Kukkapuron muotoilua ja taidetta museon kokoelmista.
Näyttely juhlistaa myös muotoilijan pitkää uraa ja elämäntyötä. 🖤
Kukkapuron ikoninen muotoilu on mielikuvituksellista, kokeellista ja leikkisää.
Se kunnoittaa ergonomiaa, ekologiaa ja materiaaleja. 🖤Näyttelyssä Kukkapuron tuotannon rinnalle on nostettu hänen suuri innoittajansa, taide. 🖤

Oli suuri ilo olla luomassa näyttelylle ilme, jossa nämä asiat yhdistyvät. Valitsimme kolme Kukkapuron muotokieltä, materiaaleja ja värejä kommentoivaa teosta, joiden rinnalla esitimme Kukkapuron kalusteita pelkistettyinä ikoneina. Ilmeen typografialla viittaamme teolliseen tuotantoon ja funktionaalisuuteen.
Lopputuloksena oli raikas ja leikkisä kokonaisuus, joka yhdistää muotoilua ja taidetta – Kukkapuron hengessä. 🖤
Näyttelyn arkkitehtina toimi Taina Väisänen.🖤

Tämä näyttely on ollut menestys ja EMMAssa kävi vuonna 2023 ihmisiä ennemmän kuin koskaan. 🖤
