📣 Opportunity Alert! 📣
We are hiring one Field Engineer for each of the following countries: Fiji, Vanuatu, or Samoa.
Field Ready is seeking hands-on, practical engineers to deliver locally made solutions for disaster risk reduction and recovery across the Pacific.
We work alongside communities and partners to design, repair, and manufacture what is needed locally — from small infrastructure improvements to essential items supporting health, WASH, and livelihoods.
These field-based roles involve:
• Technical problem-solving in community settings
• Digital fabrication and traditional manufacturing

Field Ready, with funding from the Canadian Fund for Local Initiatives CFLI and in close partnership with the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD), recently completed an Assistive Technology training in Fiji as part of its work to strengthen local technical capacity.
A total of 11 assistive technology technicians, including representatives from government and local and regional organizations of persons with disabilities, participated in the training. With no prior experience in computer aided design CAD, participants were guided step by step from the fundamentals through to confidently designing their own 3D models for essential assistive devices and replacement components.
Participants were also introduced to 3D printing technology, learning how to operate the machines and produce their own parts.
This activity forms part of the Improving Access to Assistive Technology in Fiji project and focuses on building local technical skills to support practical, locally driven solutions that improve people’s lives. The training was delivered over a week in November 2025.

70% of Pacific Islanders still don’t have access to a proper toilet.
Rising seas and extreme weather make this crisis even worse — flooding fragile systems, contaminating water, and spreading disease.
To tackle this challenge, Field Ready worked with Pacific communities to design a toilet made for the Pacific — lightweight, affordable, accessible, and locally manufactured using existing rotomoulding technology.
Already installed in Fiji and Vanuatu, over 2,000 Field Ready Toilets are improving sanitation for 15,000 people, while creating local jobs and resilient supply chains.
Now, we’re looking for partners and investors to bring this innovation to more Pacific countries — empowering local manufacturers and ensuring every family has access to a safe toilet made close to home.
