π¦πΊπ«π―Strengthening Disaster Resilience in Lakeba | Disaster Resilience Programme
On Day 2 of our Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Awareness Programme, our team visited Yadrana and Nukunuku villages to deepen community understanding of disaster risks. The day included interactive awareness sessions with our partners Fiji Seismology Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources Fiji Meteorological Service Fiji Ministry of Infrastructure and Meteorological Services Fiji NDMO Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management and transect walks led by community-based disaster risk management committees, recently selected for upcoming training.
These activities focused on identifying hazards, vulnerabilities, and capacities, laying the groundwork for comprehensive community mapping and capacity-building exercises next week.
This collaborative effort is a vital step toward building resilient communities in Lakeba.

πStrengthening Disaster Resilience in Lakeba, Lau Group!
Malo Bula! from the chiefly village of Tubou, Lakeba, Lau!
Our is currently in Lakeba to conduct DRR awareness and CBDRM trainings for the eight villages of Lakeba. Today, we began our mission by observing traditional protocols, including the presentation of our sevusevu and formal briefings with provincial and village leadership.
Over the coming weeks, we will be working closely with representatives from all eight villages to equip them with the skills needed to protect their homes and livelihoods. We look forward to productive weeks of collaboration and capacity building.

πBetter Together for Oceans Conservation
PCDF recently participated in the OCEAN Grant CBFM Scaling Inception Workshop held at MAST Suva. It was an inspiring two days filled with shared learning, networking, and planning for the future of our community fisheries.
From discussions on training and social media to brainstorming how we can better support local communities, it was great to be in a room with so many passionate partners like the Ministry of Fisheries, Fiji, Ministry of itaukei Affairs and the Women in Fisheries Network- Fiji.
When we come together to share experiences, we build stronger connections that ultimately benefit the communities we serve. Vinaka vakalevu to cChange for facilitating such a meaningful workshop. We are excited for whatβs ahead! π
