On Day 2 of our Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Awareness Programme, our team visited Yadrana and Nukunuku villages to deepen community understanding of disaster risks. The day included interactive awareness sessions with our partners Fiji Seismology Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources Fiji Meteorological Service Fiji Ministry of Infrastructure and Meteorological Services Fiji NDMO Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management and transect walks led by community-based disaster risk management committees, recently selected for upcoming training.

These activities focused on identifying hazards, vulnerabilities, and capacities, laying the groundwork for comprehensive community mapping and capacity-building exercises next week.

This collaborative effort is a vital step toward building resilient communities in Lakeba.

🌊Better Together for Oceans Conservation

PCDF recently participated in the OCEAN Grant CBFM Scaling Inception Workshop held at MAST Suva. It was an inspiring two days filled with shared learning, networking, and planning for the future of our community fisheries.

From discussions on training and social media to brainstorming how we can better support local communities, it was great to be in a room with so many passionate partners like the Ministry of Fisheries, Fiji, Ministry of itaukei Affairs and the Women in Fisheries Network- Fiji.

When we come together to share experiences, we build stronger connections that ultimately benefit the communities we serve. Vinaka vakalevu to cChange for facilitating such a meaningful workshop. We are excited for what’s ahead! πŸ™Œ
