Despite our best efforts and intent we sometimes just hit a dry hole. What does this mean? It means we can think we have everything we need to seize the objective and come away with a jackpot. But despite the best laid plans, excellent information and a fantastic team, we don’t find success. The lack of success isn’t necessarily failure. It’s just a miss. A dry hole. A thread that we pulled that didn’t come off. It doesn’t mean we give up or stop going after the objective. Dry holes happen. It’s part of refining the art - until finally the jackpot.
We have success. Mature organisations understand dry holes are part and parcel of getting after it. Sure it’s frustrating and disappointing. But rather than dwell on it, or let it deter them, they refine and go again.

Just a few weeks earlier, we had the privilege of providing security es**rt for the Fiji Police Commissioner during his time in PNG.
