Day one at Cannes, and already this feels like an important reminder for filmmakers:

Know who you are talking to- do your research and ask for people by name when it is a cold meeting.

It can be tempting to fill every hour with meetings, events, panels, and parties, especially when you feel like there are opportunities happening all around you. But Cannes is also about being present enough to notice the conversations you could never have planned for.

Some of the most meaningful connections happen in the in-between moments.

So prepare. Know your project. Have your materials ready. But also leave space to actually connect with people.

And when you do, trust your own authenticity.
