European Experiences

On the Portugal Experience, we look forward to a magical private evening.

A table is dressed beautifully, just for us, with flowers and candles on the terrace of the hotel. This overlooks the historic square. We then enjoy a gourmet dinner paired with Douro Valley wines. In between multiple courses, we listen to an enchanting Faro music singer, along with two Portuguese guitarists. And at the end we toast with 20 year old vintage Port.

Some travelers have told us this is one of the most memorable meals of their life!

Siena!! Our Chianti Experience group spent the day in this beautiful and interesting Italian city set on three hills. Our fun guide Kathleen, a native of Siena, introduced us to the history, architecture, and culture of this very unique place.

We especially enjoyed learning about the 17 neighborhoods (“contrade”) and the famous Palio horse race.

Buonasera from Tuscany! We met our Chianti Experience group in Florence on Tuesday afternoon. We’re happy to spend a week in the beautiful countryside, based in the wine town of Castellina in Chianti.

We’ve been hosting groups in Chianti for 15 years. This year Kathy is joined by Kristin of our European Experiences team.

After a walking tour of Castellina this morning, we spent a relaxing afternoon with our good friend Nora at her cashmere goat farm. We enjoyed a delicious picnic lunch with amazing views of the countryside, learned about her life and work with the goats, and held and fed two sweet baby goats.
