Tour of Hainan stage 1 - Most Aggressive

Pretty boring sprint stage on paper so got in some meditation out front and a few bonus seconds for a head start on the GC

Week 13 stats and thoughts

First stage race of the season in the books. Didn’t crack the top step but right in the mix with plenty of good results shared amongst the team on each stage and the final GC. Looked set to mostly be a sprinty snooze fest after the first two stages but the back half was hot and spicy 🌶️
Definitely didn’t feel 100% in the heat after doing the final prep in Chinese winter but the UCI extreme weather protocol doesn’t seem to extend to Asia or we wouldn’t get any racing done… Regularly passing the 40°C mark on the road by the end of the stages. 📈
Local hospital got plenty of foot traffic between wounded road nappers, heatstroke victims and the rabid monk.

2nd on stage 4 of Tour of Thailand 🥵

Worked out it’s been 9 years and close to 100 early breaks in pro UCI races since I was in one that made it to the line.
Enough engines in this group that I got to sit in the back seat for a change and have a few digs in the final but kudos to for humbling us in the sprint.

Also need a fact check on if this is the first UCI podium while battling potential rabies infection.
