Gold has a wonderful sense of theatre. Sometimes, it likes to look a little more "solid" than it actually is.

A client visited our Paris boutique recently with a vintage gold Médaillon. On the scale, it weighed 8 grams. At first glance, it looked like a solid, golden promise from another era.

But in the world of Achat D’Or, curiosity is our best tool. As we carefully opened the piece to see its internal "heart," the story changed. To give the médaillon its strength and shape, the old artisan had built a metal frame inside. The actual gold was 6 grams.

It turns out, even vintage jewellery needs a strong "skeleton" to stay in shape.

Is this a disappointment? Not at all. It was a fascinating lesson in how things were once made. Luxury expertise is about seeing the hidden details that others might miss. We explained the internal structure to the client—not as a technical report, but as a discovery.

Transparency is the most elegant way to build trust. After all, a client doesn’t just bring us gold; they bring us their confidence. True luxury isn't just about what you see on the surface; it’s about the honesty of what is inside.
