Remembering Bob Purkhiser.

From Purdue University standout to a Major League Baseball draft pick by the Minnesota Twins in 1965, his athletic journey was anything but ordinary. After college, he traveled across the United States with the US Army basketball team, sharing his passion for the game before taking his talent overseas to Belgium and then to France.

At ASVEL, he built a legacy with three French championship titles as a player. Naturalized in 1975, he embraced French basketball as his own. In 1980, he stepped into a new role as head coach in Le Mans. Called back onto the court when his team needed him most, he led them to a championship final and captured a title the following season, this time from the sidelines.

His life was tragically cut short in a car accident after that season, but his impact on the game lives on.
