La Botte Camarguaise 👢

On June 28, 2024, the French Trademark Office (INPI) granted approval for the “Bottes Camarguaises” geographical indication (GI), marking the 19th GI and the fourth within the fashion sector. This designation ensures that all manufacturing processes, including leather cutting, stitching, assembly, and finishing of the boots, occur within specified towns in the Gard, Hérault, and Bouches-du-Rhône départements. The Bottes Camarguaises Association has been established to oversee the protection and management of this geographical indication. These boots, traditionally worn by horse and bull breeders of the Camargue region since the early 20th century, are characterized by their high-quality, water-resistant leather and durable Blake Stitch construction, ensuring both functionality and longevity. This approval reinforces the commitment to preserving the cultural heritage associated with these iconic boots.
