63 years ago today, the tricolour Gabonese flag was adopted.

Each colour significant, the flag is a well-loved and integral symbol of national unity.

Green represents the equatorial forest covering the majority of the territory and agricultural wealth, yellow alludes to the sun, the mineral wealth and legendary hospitality of the Gabonese people and blue to represent the sea, the numerous rivers that cross the country and a vision for peace.
