DC Rallying

Well after a disappointing Cambrian rally at the end of October which saw us break a drive shaft only a few miles into SS1 and having to retire, We managed to finish the 2025 season on a massive high winning the RAC mini rally challenge R50 class!

We wanted to say a massive thankyou to our friends and family for all the support and encouragement!

A massive thankyou to FRS & Transportation for getting us to each event and recovering us when things didn’t go to plan!

And thankyou to Three Counties Motorsport for getting the car ready before events.

Without all the support this wouldn’t be possible!

Big shout out to the committee of the Mini Rally Challenge for putting together another great championship this year despite organising this voluntarily in their own time!

Mathewsons Classic Cars & Glenbrook

It’s better late than never but we wanted to share a little over view of our rally at the Cambrian!

The rally quickly went downhill after we went to noise. Less than half a mile from scruitineering our auxiliary belt snapped and we were forced to stop on the side of the road in the middle of Llandudno. We got back to service and found our crank pulley damper had disintegrated and with time pressing on we thought we might have to retire again!Fortunately the power of social media and the help from fellow competitors we tracked down an engine for sale with said pulley on and with the help from slideways motorsport working through the night we were able to get the car up and running ready for an early scruitineering.

We ran 5th car on the road which helped clear the loose stuff a little and give us a few lines to run in!

We took ss1 Elsi cautious for the first couple of miles on the tight winding sections then pushed on into the middle and end of the stage finding our rhythm.

Ss2 Clocaenog was very fast and open with a few jumps and fast sweeping corners! We picked a puncture up towards the end of the stage but were fortunate enough to have time to change it at the start que of Ss3.

Ss3 Brenig was a very mixed stage fast & open but also some very tight loose sections! We also got our first taste of some tarmac which was very fast and slippy with gravel tyres!

Ss4 Alwen was a nice fast technical stage and we put our best performance in being only 3.4 seconds off the r50 leader!

We finished 2nd in class 1min 08.6sec off first place and 5th overall! A great way to finish the 2024 season that’s been full of ups and downs! Despite having to retire at Trackrod rally Yorkshire before we even started we’ve finished 3rd in the r50 gravel championship!

A big thankyou to our family and friends for braving the weather to cheers us on in the woods and a massive thankyou to Mini Rally Challenge for putting together a great championship and continuing to make stage rallying more affordable!
