Glass Blower
1945
I sat
First at the side upon a low leather bench
Then
Moving round to the edge as
You danced around with glass glowing
Playing like one with a trombone ,trumpet and cornet
Ballet moves..light and free as
The glass continued to glow
A handsome man you were to me
Free movement as the
Glass glowed
Glass changed and became
A fret board on a guitar
You danced once more ..movement since 1944
75
I wrote a poem in anger
A poem about the suited and booted in a building not so far from here
It was during the celebrations of the NHS
75 years of service
Wheeling the patient
75 years of scrubbing floors ,reaching high and bending low
Suited a booted looking straight ahead
Seated in theit smart rooms
Managers here ,managers there and there and there and over there
How many ??
Lost count to be honest
75 years of service
Scrub
Mop
And scrub some more
Cake arrives and coffee too
Suited and booted heels and ties
Doors are shut
Only laughter can be heard
By those who see shadows moving whilst
Wheeling patients
Scrubbing floors ..reaching high, bending low

Lindsay & Stevie
They sang the song that made me listen
Listen to when you left that summer in July
I can't remember which one it was
The song they sang is no longer etched upon my memory
It wasn't Landside
Or
Never Going Back Again
The landslide never happened when you left that summer day
You never did come back that July
And the songs of Lindsay and Stevie ..they had no meaning nor reason
They were just songs ..were they not
She's got the words
Got the melodies too
Jennys sang the song One Voice
Now she will make it her own
With the ear app
Ear App ??
Yep there is an Ear App
Well I'll be darn ..!
Tones or semi tones the app does ask
With uke in hand from C to Dflat
Jaws theme comes to mind
Listening out for that there semi tone
And the Singer ...
Well she is ...
Getting there ...
Getting there with her
One Voice
A poem in the future
Oh how they laughed as they picked up mugs
Mugs with steaming hot chocolate..steam swirling in the air not unlike smoke from ci******es smoked in the mid two thousands
Talking of pfl levels, faders and volume controls..of magic clocks that told us just how much time we had to listen to the song that's just about to end ..before
The conversations start as they recall ..
Of places along the river near the hides with the redheaded girl with the three children. Leaving the cat and rabbit at home both sitting in the sun
Views across towards the sea ...who would spy the pirate ship first ..like Caroline's radio waves filtering towards the hill where they both sit
Years have passed
She with her stick ..carefully watching where she goes
He with his grey hair some 25 years younger ..
Time Passed
Time Passed
Friendships Healed
Sam upon the Steps
🎶
With guitar in hand I saw him first
Playing Dreams that Last
Three simple chords he did reveal
🎶
Chatted while
He said people often stop to ask
What is that tune you play upon the steps just near Monument
Self penned always ..well nearly always
Music 🎶
Told Sam I wrote my own too
Carry on he said
I'm 18 years down the line with songs and prose ..
We said goodbye
I never found out more about
Sam upon the Steps
Dust the Books
Dust the books upon the shelf and see
See the words jump before you
Before you on your lap
Settle upon the middle stair
Curl up with travel
With science and knowledge
Matilda and Dickens
History and Drama
Upon that bookshelf
What books do you own upon that bookshelf upon the stairs
Colours
There were some gloves that fitted the hand that used to wave to him
The gloves were soft just like his smile .
They were mauve
Remembering his smile and the friendly wave
She wore the gloves with her posh frock
that swished as she walked up the hill
The dress was blue
Skies were sunlit and bright when she remembered him
Brown coat and hat upon his head with just a small amount of grey hair showing through
The skies turned grey and dark when he left
Others heading up the hill to the room with cake and tea and much merriment except from her
No one told her he was going
She left the gloves upon the table when she realised she would see him no more
Mauve gloves mean nothing now
Now that he has gone

Footsteps Upon the Boards
The house has stood for these past eighty and ten more years
How many footsteps up and down the winding stairs she wonders
Bells in rooms meant staff came and went in rooms downstairs
She knows it was built in what Julia Gardner would call the forgotten decade of the 1930s along with the professors house next door
The sixties saw a young family move in
A lady and gentleman with two children then in 1987 a newly wedded couple with dreams of leaving the bustling town ..making their mark within the walls of House on the Hill
Now a new chapter begins with new beginnings and a fresh new feel upon the 90 year old boards up the winding stairs
