As much as our dogs love their walks, this heat can be dangerous for them much faster than many people realise.

Hot pavements can burn paws in seconds, and dogs can quickly suffer from heat exhaustion — especially during the middle of the day when temperatures are at their highest.

A few simple changes can make a huge difference:
🐾 Walk early in the morning or later in the evening
💧 Bring water and take regular breaks
🌳 Choose shady routes and grassy areas
✋ Do the 5-second pavement test — if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws

Signs of overheating can include:
• Excessive panting
• Drooling
• Weakness or slowing down
• Vomiting or confusion
