Merstham Ladies FC

Last Friday night (a couple of Fridays ago 😅) Merstham ladies sent two teams to the and epic summer tournament. Both of the teams were mixed up of Merstham 7s Ambers, Blues and Blacks, which was a great way to properly catch up with each other and have fun playing football ⚽️ And we are so frickin proud, with it turning into a great summer evening 🫶

Merstham Ambers topped their group, resulting in them going into the cup final, whilst Merstham Blacks came second, earning their place in the plate final! The finals were utterly fantastic games, both played against two strong and talented Oxted sides. The final whistle saw Merstham Blacks win the Plate, however the Merstham Ambers was still 0-0…. And into penalties. Our hero Chrissie made some unbelievable saves and then took on the pressure to score her penalty, leading Merstham to also win the Cup!

And the best part? We had so much fun ❤️ 🖤💙🧡

What an incredible season… going completely unbeaten and working so well together as a team.

On an incredibly hot day yesterday, the Blacks took on in a brilliantly competitive game! At half time, Merstham were 3-0 up, with goals from Mel and Lina and had a much deserved breather and water break. In the second half, the ladies worked hard in crazy 30+ temperatures to maintain their lead, although a last minute goal from Woking made the final score 3-1 to Merstham 👏🏼 Tara was POM for super work in defence but the whole team need congratulating for a wonderful season!

On Saturday 13th June, some of Merstham Ladies are taking part in an epic Football Marathon, coming together with lots of London football teams to raise money for sexual health awareness and support in Africa. Through the power of football, the ladies will be playing for 12 hours, all in aid of this wonderful charity. By the end of the 12 hours, the estimate is that each individual would have roughly run the length of a marathon, by playing football.
