news | Barking parkrun Barking parkrun #657 11th July 2026 Posted on July 12, 2026 by barkingoffice We start with thanks to our volunteers this week. At the start of the week i think we had 3 or 4 volunteers, as quite a few of our regular helpers were unavailable. Whilst normally this does not cause us too many sleepless....

An early appeal, the usual email will follow in due course. With holiday season and the annual spitfire scramble next week, we will be missing quite a few of our regulars. If you can help please preferably email [email protected] or comment on here if you can help us to put on your parkrun next week.
Run report time a somewhat wordy effort or perhaps that should be woody!https://www.parkrun.org.uk/barking/news/
EDIT Best we can do with limited information, a few places/times have been amended hopefully everyone who scanned a barcode is now included in a time somewhere near what you achieved. Please accept that we are human.
If anyone has their times from their own watch or strava from position 100 onwards, that doesn't match the results, could you comment on here or email [email protected].
We know some people who ran or at least finished together are showing time gaps.
We are aware something has gone wrong with the results. We have processed what we had, but it will need greater investigation and time is against us at the moment. Please bear with us.

With temperatures rising this weekend, please consider leaving your parkrun pooches at home for their welfare and safety.
Here’s some helpful advice from the RSPCA on spotting heatstroke in dogs 👉 parkrun.me/d1vfx
🌳
The temperature for Barking parkrun on Saturday looks like being 25 degrees at 9.00am. Cooler than now but still hot!
We will be sharing guidance on parkrunning in hot weather from parkrun HQ when we receive it but please be ready to follow all the usual advice:
Wear light coloured, loose, moisture-wicking clothes, and a sun hat or visor;
Wear sunscreen;
Hydrate beforehand and bring some cool drink. We’ll have some emergency water but there won’t be enough for everyone;
Have a thought for your furry friend. The safest option is often to leave dogs at home;
Heat will slow you down - start slow and don’t chase a personal best;
Seek shade if you can. If you feel unwell (dizziness, chills, nausea) slow down, walk, or stop! Seek help if you need it.
Keep safe and hopefully see you on Saturday.
