COMING UP 🗓️ CLARE SANDS LIVE IN BELFAST, SUN 18 OCTOBER 💎
Less than two weeks to go now until Clare Sands brings her electrifying live show to The Empire in Belfast, with tickets moving fast 🎟️
Clare, a sixth generation fiddle player and bilingual singer from Cork, draws from the music of her ancestors. She weaves Traditional Irish roots with Contemporary sounds and influences, and her songs are deeply connected to place. Folklore, language, and activism rise together in song.
'They Tried to Bury Us' is her newest collection of songs, which have a deep North of Ireland connection. It is an album that rises from the earth against oppression - written across Ulster with an incredible array of musicians based in the Northern counties - and alongside producer Seán Óg Graham (Beoga, Kevin Casey)

Looking forward to a whopper weekend of gigs. Like - proper whopper 😳 ⚡️
Friday w/ Gleaming World Unit at the The Black Box Belfast
Helmed by one of the world’s finest drummers (our very own Steve Davis) and sitting delightfully between free-jazz and deep groove - this really is an unmissable group. Joining Steve will be Alexander Hawkins, Angelika Niescier, Tom Challenger, and Michael Formanek.
Still thinking about their 2024 Brilliant Corners set... 🤯🤯🤯

On Saturday - Kalia Vandever in the Tall Gallery of The MAC Belfast
Brooklyn based trombonist and composer Kalia Vandever’s debut album for the cult International Anthem label is a deep ethereal ambient blues that we can’t get enough of. Playing within the beautiful setting of Susan Hughes exhibition in the MAC - this will be a treat for the eyes and ears. 🌀🥰
Wrapping up on Sunday with Marisa Anderson at the The Crescent
Delighted to welcome back one of contemporary guitar’s finest players back to Belfast. Granted access to folklorist’s Harry Smith’s archive, Marisa has transposed music from places that the United States has been in conflict with since 1970: Southeast Asia, the USSR and the Arabic and Islamic regions of the world. The result is both immensely enjoyable and deeply affecting.
Support from Natural Elements Trio who pay tribute to legendary 70s fusion band Shakti.
