🐣 A wonderful example of social and emotional learning in action!
Carr Mill Nursery chicks have hatched, and the pupils have chosen to name them Twiggle and Henrietta after their favourite characters. 🐢🦔
When children form meaningful connections with PATHS characters, they bring the programme's lessons beyond the classroom. It reminds us that familiar characters help reinforce key social and emotional learning skills, supporting children to recognise and manage emotions, build positive relationships and develop empathy and confidence in everyday situations.
Congratulations to everyone at Carr Mill Nursery on welcoming Twiggle and Henrietta! 💛 🐥

🌟 Teacher of the Week 🌟
At St Mary’s Catholic Infant Academy in St Helen’s, they've adapted their Child of the Day complimenting process for staff, introducing ‘Teacher of the Week’. Colleagues share kind words and positive feedback, which are displayed in the staffroom to celebrate and appreciate one another.
A simple but powerful way to foster kindness and connection across the whole setting community. 💛
What small changes have made a big difference in your setting? We'd love to hear your ideas in the comments. 🗯️

Buddy Station at Leaps and Bounds Nursery, Renfrewshire 🌿💛
Supporting the development of self-awareness and emotional literacy in an outdoor setting is something we talk about regularly during our visits to schools and early years settings.
The wonderful Buddy Station at Leaps and Bounds Nursery is a fantastic example of this in action. By creating a dedicated space where children can seek out a friend or communicate how they are feeling, the Buddy Station helps nurture emotional understanding, empathy, confidence and positive relationships.
Such great example of how outdoor environments can be used to promote children’s wellbeing and social-emotional development. 🌱

🌺 Child of the Day 🌼 - that smile says it all.
Feeling seen, valued, and celebrated helps children glow with confidence. Moments like this aren’t just special - they’re powerful.
Research in social and emotional learning shows that positive recognition builds self-esteem, strengthens relationships, and supports wellbeing.
When children hear kind words about themselves, they begin to believe them - and that’s where real growth begins.
Thanks to Saints and Scholars IPS for sharing this lovely picture of P1 pupil Aída and her lovely compliments!
