✨ Silk Laid Work Panel, c. 1921 ✨

This beautiful embroidered panel was worked by Rachel Kay Shuttleworth as a gift for her parents’ golden wedding anniversary in 1921 💛

Made in the Italian laid work technique, it features peacocks, flowers, gold metal threads, and iridescent beetle wings 🦚🌸✨ Rachel even chose a luxurious cloth of gold background and had it framed in an ornate gilt frame.

Inspired by a parapet at St Mark’s Cathedral, Venice, this piece is full of history, skill, and stunning detail.
