Presenting the Ferrari 499P Engine prototype at 1:4 scale.

Each exceptional finished piece is the result of a meticulous development process, necessitating more than 3500 hours of work. Developed from CAD data supplied by Ferrari, our engineers fabricate a pattern for each component of the model. These master patterns are then produced using 3D printing and meticulous hand-finishing before moulds are taken to create a small batch of precisely engineered cast components, each one carefully fettled and fitted to create a complete set. The prototype model is assembled in grey primer to allow deep scrutiny of the individual pieces.

Only once the grey primer prototype has the approval of the designers and engineers at Ferrari, will the model be disassembled, painted, detailed and reassembled before proceeding to final sign-off. This prototype remains the benchmark for every piece that follows, every detail reproduced with absolute fidelity, creating a sculptural masterpiece that captures the heart of Ferrari's formidable 499P with absolute precision.

On this day 70 years ago, the Jaguar D-type claimed an extraordinary 1-2-3-4 victory at the 12 Hours of Reims on the 30th June 1956.

Built in March 1956 as one of twelve Longnose cars and adorned in the classic British Racing Green, chassis XKD 605 stood as the marque’s penultimate D-type, and Reims would be its competitive debut. Piloted by Duncan Hamilton and Ivor Bueb, this legendary machine covered 1332 miles before crossing the finish line five miles ahead of the D-type behind it, with third and fourth positions also claimed by this extraordinary car.

Although originally built for Le Mans, the XKD 605 would go on to struggle at the Circuit de la Sarthe that year - ultimately finishing sixth due to a cracked fuel injection pipe. The Ecurie Ecosse D-type claimed first place however, and the D-type would go on to dominate the following 1957 racing season - cementing its place in Le Mans history as one of the race’s most successful cars.

Meticulously replicating the Reims-winning chassis XKD 605, both 1:8 and 1:18 scale models of this legendary car are available to purchase on our website. Link in bio.
