I'm a local resident of Risca and have been foraging and walking the area for a number of years.

Red clover is used to manage menopause symptoms like hot flushes and night sweats. It can also help with bone density reducing risk of osteoporosis. has naturally occurring estrogen.
Can also be used to help skin elasticity and soothe skin inflammation like eczema or psoriasis.
Historically, it has been used in Chinese, Russian, and Native American folk medicine to soothe respiratory issues like asthma, bronchitis, and whooping cough.

After washing your Pheasants back, break up with your fingers. On older specimens use the edges of fungi as the closer you get to the middle will become too fibrous to break up or eat. Younger ones can be be used whole (except stork).
I always dry fry mine in a frying pan first before adding any other ingredients as the fungi releases alot of water. Once the juices have subsided you can add garlic butter and brown off the shrooms. Make them into omelette or use how you choose. Then enjoy ❤️

I went on a foraging walk along the canal today around Risca area.
I found Pheasants back/ Dryads saddle/ Cerioporus squamosus. It grows on dead decaying hard woods such as ash, elm and sycamore.
It smells amazing like watermelon when fresh. Its spongy and wet if you squeeze it.
I will post some tips on how to cook it later.
This one of my favourites to eat.

Whilst at the Grange hospital I noticed these up on the walls. They are plants and flowers that have medicinal values. Thought this might interest a few people and maybe help others believe who are unsure that these facts are really true.

After a hard few weeks looking after my very sick mum, who still needs everyday care. Today I'm finally able to go out for a walk as my daughter has stepped in to help also. I'm hoping to find something I can record and post a little later for you all. Thanks for being patient everyone. Much love. # # #

Unfortunately I won't be able to lead a walk this Sunday as my mum has been in hospital for over a week but, hopefully will be sent home this Friday. I will need to care for her until she fully recovers.
