Sugar Creative turns 17 today!

17 is a prime number. It does not divide neatly. It does not fit a pattern. It stands on its own.

Oddly, it is also the number people most often choose when asked to pick a random number from 1 to 20. Not random at all. Just the one that feels unexpected.

Feels about right for us!

17 years of work hard to categorise. Stubbornly independent. And, we hope, the name clients reach for when they want something genuinely different.

Thanks to the brilliant clients and collaborators who chose to build unusual things with us.

Here's to being prime!

We’ve had a great response to the Discovery Tour App: Medieval Baghdad, a free mobile experience developed with Ubisoft to explore the history and culture of 9th-century Baghdad through story, interaction, and AR-enhanced artefacts.

But what’s been even more exciting is how it’s opened up new conversations. especially around how learning can be delivered in ways that are intuitive, playful, and actually memorable.

Internally, we’ve started calling it "plearning": play + learning.

(We know....maybe we'll workshop it a little more...but it kinda stuck!)

For IP holders, publishers, and cultural institutions looking to activate archives, collections or historical worlds in new ways, this project has shown what’s possible when you rethink how people want to learn.
