A once bare, square new-build living room now feels warmer and more settled with the addition of a plastered false chimney breast, cabinet bookcases, and a Welsh oak mantel shelf. An electric fire with real logs sits below the wall-mounted television, while dimmable lighting brings a softer glow in the room. Finished with bronzed handles, oak veneer-effect internals, and an in-house spray paint finish, the space brings together storage, display, and everyday comfort.
Books are picked up, put back, and revisited often in this room, so the storage is designed to hold them with care. Finished in Farrow & Ball's 'Blackened', the bookcase cabinet combines display and storage for our client's rare Welsh language literature collection, with reinforced shelves and fluted details that reflect the character of the fireplace.
