Pathways to Childcare Work Trial Scheme

Introduction to Childcare is an online one-day course which gives an overview of working in the early years and childcare sector. For some participants this is their first step into the world of childcare, and they won’t have previous experience in settings. To help bridge that gap, the work trial scheme offers opportunities in settings so participants can get experience and a chance to see what working in the sector is really like.

Settings can join the scheme by filling in the expression of interest form below. When Gofal Cymdeithasol Cymru / Social Care Wales have a participant in your area they'll get in touch to arrange an online meeting. The scheme is flexible - settings and participants can discuss and decide together on the length and frequency of the trial. We’ll keep in touch with both the participant and the setting throughout to see how things are going and offer additional support if needed.

If you’d like more information about the work trial scheme, we’ll be holding an informal information session on 4 December between 4.30pm and 5.30pm. This is an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the scheme.

Gofal Cymdeithasol Cymru / Social Care Wales first ever early years and childcare workforce survey is now open, and they want to hear from you!

If you work in early years and childcare, they would like to know more about why you decided this was the career for you, how you feel about your job and working conditions and whether you’re facing any challenges.

All the information you provide will be completely anonymous – no one will know who’s taken part in the survey.

Your voice can make a difference. The feedback you provide will give a clearer picture of what it’s like to work in early years and childcare and will help shape the support offered.

The survey closes on Friday 21 November.

With funding from the Welsh Government, Adoption UK - Cymru has developed free training for staff in Early Years, Primary or Secondary schools and settings.

In a three-hour session, you will explore why adopted and care experienced learners may have challenges in regulating their behaviour. You will find out about therapeutic and relational approaches used by adoptive parents and carers and how they can be adapted to setting situations. There will be
opportunities to discuss the theory behind this and to share experiences with other practitioners.

The attached flyer contains more information.

The sessions for early years settings will be held on:
