Some of my fave functional core basics and how to build on them.
Whether you’re rehabbing after having a baby, or just trying to strengthen your core after not prioritising it for a while…these exercises are a great place to start.
Make sure to watch each video to the end for all the progressions (some have multiple).
The breath is key, learning how to engage your transverse abs (deep abdominals) with your pelvic floor as you exhale is the best foundation to build more challenging ab work upon.
All these exercises focus on the deep core for stability. It’s important to also strengthen with flexion, extension, rotation and lateral flexion too (unless contraindicated for you) but these are a great starting point.
