European hornets

European hornets are large, native stinging insects that are typically docile but can become a pest when they nest in wall voids, attics, or outbuildings. Unlike smaller, more aggressive wasps, European hornets are large (19–35mm) with a brown, yellow-striped abdomen and a reddish head. They are often confused with the invasive Asian hornet.

•Nighttime Nuisance: They are highly attracted to artificial lights and will persistently bang against windows at night.
