🧪 Service Update: Johne's Disease PCR – Now Performed In-House
We're pleased to announce that Johne's Disease PCR is now performed in-house at BattLab, with an improved turnaround time of just 1–3 working days.
Johne's disease is a chronic, progressive intestinal disease of ruminants—including cattle, sheep, goats, deer and camelids—caused by Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP). Infection often occurs in young animals, with clinical disease developing months or even years later.
Our in-house PCR assay detects MAP DNA, providing a rapid and sensitive diagnostic tool to support the investigation of suspected cases, herd surveillance and disease control. Rapid and accurate detection plays an important role in herd health management and disease control.
If you'd like to find out more about our Johne's Disease PCR service or discuss sample requirements, our team is always happy to help.

🐰 Rabbit Cytology Cases 🔬
As part of Rabbit Awareness Week, we're highlighting three rabbit cytology submissions that demonstrate the value of cytological assessment in investigating disease in rabbit patients.
These cases illustrate how cytology can provide valuable diagnostic information for a range of conditions, from neoplastic and inflammatory processes to metabolic changes.
At BattLab, our experienced pathologists provide rapid cytological assessment and are always available to discuss results, case interpretation and appropriate follow-up testing.
