When did you last test your RCD? I know, probably never or "what's an RCD?"
An RCD is a safety device that should be tested every 3 months. It monitors the live and neutral in the property and if they don't balance it will trip out the power to protect you.
I went to a job this week where the rcd had failed but the home owner was none the wiser.Two small children and an electric shower that was not protected could have been a disaster waiting to happen.
Needless to say, it was replaced immediately.

Testing is simple, just press the "T" button and the rcd should trip. Then reset by switching lever back up. At least you know it works then!

This is what can happen if electrics are not checked. Main supply cable melting due to loose connection. This could have caused a house fire if left. Start the year off in the right way and have your electrics inspected.
