🌞🥵 HOT WORK AT THE OLD STABLES 🏡

While most people have been looking for shade over the last few days, the team at The Old Stables have been carrying on regardless.

With temperatures climbing and the sun doing its very best to slow everyone down, progress has continued both inside and out as this fantastic conversion moves another step closer to completion.

Internally, the plastering is progressing well and the spaces are really beginning to show their true character. The vaulted ceilings, roof lights and large openings are filling the rooms with natural light, transforming what was once a building site into what is clearly becoming a beautiful home.

Outside, attention has turned to the oak cladding details.

Now, anyone can fix timber to a wall...

But getting the details right is where the difference lies.

Corners.

Junctions.

Window reveals.

Transitions.

All the little bits that nobody notices when they're done properly... but everybody notices when they're not!

The oak is starting to wrap around the building beautifully and is already bringing warmth and character to the exterior.

Although I must admit, working with oak in this weather does make you wonder...

At this rate we're not building The Old Stables anymore, we're slowly turning the workforce into smoked ham.

Thankfully spirits remain high, the tea is still flowing, and despite the heat the team continue to push forward.

It's these final details that often take the most time, but they're also the details that make the biggest difference when the scaffold finally comes down.

Slowly but surely the old stable building is becoming something very special.

And with every board fitted, every wall plastered and every detail completed, we're getting closer to seeing the finished vision come to life.

For now we'll keep the water bottles topped up, keep the sunscreen handy and keep moving forward.

Although if anyone sees Pip trying to install an ice cream freezer in the welfare area, we'll probably let him off this week! 🍦😂
