So very sad to see the old convent building in Downpatrick engulfed in flames.It was such a historical part of our town.

Avoid the area where possible to allow the emergency services carry out their duties.

My thoughts are with the firefighters working to bring the blaze under control. I hope they stay safe and that the fire can be contained before it spreads any further.

Regrettably, due to planned strike action, the Phone First Urgent Care Centre at Downe Hospital will be CLOSED on Monday 29 June.

If the Executive does not agree a Budget they will be voluntarily imposing a £1 billion cut on public services.

That could mean hundreds fewer nurses, teachers and police officers.

We support any efforts to increase funding from London but it cannot secured by playing chicken with our public services.

The SDLP Opposition is challenging the Executive today on their Budget.
